- Wrapping Things Up…
Treehouse is a great coding platform for amateurs who learn best from video-based instructions.
So, if you’ve just started your online course journey, you must take advantage of its resources to learn how to code.
In this Teamtreehouse review, we will discuss what makes Treehouse so great, its pros, cons, and some of its alternatives.

Team Treehouse Review
Treehouse is a gamified online learning platform. It offers affordable and self-paced learning for you to enhance your online course business. It has everything from beginner-level courses to advanced courses on coding, design, web design, and even business.
Alternate #1
Udemy
We would recommend Udemy if you are looking for an e-learning platform that offers a variety of subjects. Udemy has courses on everything from web development to psychology. Whereas, Treehouse is more focused on coding and design. It is also a great pocket-friendly option for Treehouse.

Alternate #2
Coursera
If you learn better through theoretical knowledge, we would suggest Coursera. It aims to give university-quality courses with more conceptual concepts. Whereas, Treehouse focuses on a more practical approach for the students.

Quick Summary of the Main Product
As we said earlier, Treehouse offers courses for students looking to gain knowledge and tech skills for a career in coding and design.
Therefore, its courses are designed around a proven system to help you get the skills to accomplish your goals.
While testing the platform we loved how interactive its video courses are.
It offers on-demand videos, challenges, quizzes, exams, code challenges, and coding workshops.
Moreover, its courses consist of both learning tracts and individual courses.
The languages include:
- PHP
- JavaScript
- HTML
- CSS
- Python
- Ruby
- Java
- Swift (directed towards iOS development)
On the other hand, the learning tracks include:
- Web design
- Web development
- Rails development
- Script development
- PHP development
- iOS development
- Android development
- Starting your business
Features and Benefits
We tested out the platform for months before writing this Treehouse review.
Here are some of the most notable features we came across:
Treehouse Courses
Most of Treehouse’s content is divided into courses. It has 300+ courses on 23 subjects and more than 50,000 students.
Each course contains video-based instructions, quizzes, code exercises, and brief instructions about the subject.
While testing out the platform, our team found most of the courses to be multiple hours long. So, it can take a while for you to finish them.
However, each course is self-paced. So, you can come back to it whenever you want.
Furthermore, they offer practice sessions and workshops to help you strengthen your skills as well as in-depth tricks for certain topics.
Learning Tracks
Treehouse has organized a sequence of courses on the same subjects into bundles called Learning Tracks.
Think of their tracks as mini-programs. It gives you a chance to learn a course in a step-by-step manner.
Here are some examples of the most popular tracks Treehouse offers:
- Web development Treehouse course
Front End Web Development track consists of all topics including HTML, CSS, Full-Stack Javascript, and website hosting.
You can use it to boost your skills to create a modern and interactive website to host your online courses. It takes a total of 57 hours to complete.
- Python course
Python allows you to learn a programming language. They can choose from 4 options including Beginning Python, Intermediate Python, Flask Framework, and Django web design framework.
- Java course
It includes unit testing, HTML, HTTP basics, and other topics.
- Introduction to HTML and CSS
We would recommend this course for complete beginners. It consists of a 134-minute lecture that teaches the basic building blocks of web design.
Treehouse Teams
Along with individual treehouse courses, it also offers curated courses for teams of two or more.
As an online course creator, you’ll have to work alongside the team at Treehouse to come up with a course that fits the needs of you and your team.
If you’re interested, you can discuss the pricing with Treehouse since it doesn’t have specific pricing.
Treehouse Instructors
Most platforms do not have their teachers screened. While this is great in the sense that you’ll have more choice but, it also means that enforcing quality standards is impossible.
Treehouse on the other hand maintains strict quality standards. All their courses are created and maintained by a team of expert instructors.
We found the instructors to be approachable and charismatic. More than that, it was obvious they had been coached on how to teach.
Easy of use
The usability factor is extremely important in any e-learning platform.
It won’t matter if the offered courses are great if the website design is dodgy and you can’t navigate your way through it.
While using Treehouse, it was nice to see the team behind Treehouse choose to go a very simplistic route rather than creating a complex website.
One thing we didn’t like about the platform was that we couldn’t find a way to access the courses from the main page.
However, we found out that the course pages were extremely organized and up to date, which was a plus point for us.
Factors to Consider Before you Decide to Buy Treehouse
Price
Now, let’s talk pricing.
Treehouse comes with 3 subscription plans:
- Courses for $25 per month
This is a beginner-oriented plan. It gives you access to the full course library, quizzes, practice sessions, code challenges, and Treehouse tracks.
- Courses Plus for $49 per month
This includes everything from Courses plus additional content, unlimited access, and offline viewing of course videos.
- Tech degree for $199 per month
Includes everything from Courses Plus as well as personalized feedback, project reviews, coding exercises, hands-on projects, full access to the exclusive slack community, and more.
As an online course creator, we would recommend the Courses or Courses Plus plan since Techdegree is aimed towards people looking for a tech-based job.
Treehouse free trial
Although Treehouse does not offer free online classes, it does have an option for a 7-day free trial.
It is available for everyone when they first sign in.
We would highly recommend you to take full advantage of the free trial to see if the courses are right for them.
But, you do need to remember to cancel the subscription in case you don’t find something you like. Otherwise, you’ll be charged month after month until it is canceled.
Community Support
Treehouse has an active community to answer all your questions.
Once you’re signed in you can head over to the Community tab in the header. Here you’ll be able to read all the questions and answers that other users have left.
You can also leave questions on your own in case of any doubts.

TeamTreehouse – Guide to Buy

It can be confusing to choose between different e-learning platforms due to the similarities in their features.
Therefore, our team has compiled a Guide to Buy to help you choose the best one.
Price
If you’re new to creating online courses, we imagine you don’t have a lot of money coming in from your online course business.
Therefore, we recommend going for a platform that has a good price tag on its online courses.
Free Trial
As an online course creator, it’s a good idea to go for an e-learning platform that offers a free trial.
This way you will have a chance to choose the right course for yourself.
Community Support
Choosing a platform with excellent community support is important so all your issues are addressed.
You don’t want to go for an e-learning platform with inadequate support that fails to answer your questions or doesn’t get back to you.
Wrapping Things Up…
With that, we come to the end of our Treehouse review.
The question remains, is team treehouse worth it?
Treehouse has plenty of features including a well-structured course list, high-quality videos, and a multi-tiered subscription plan. On the contrary, it can be limited due to its lack of good projects.
However, it is worth it if you are new to coding and looking to learn the basics.
Otherwise, Coursera and Udemy are also great options to try out.
